As the weather shifts from gloomy to mild, everyone’s attention turns to the outdoors. Spring is a great time to do exterior house painting. The weather is pleasant, exterior latex paints forms the most durable, protective finish when the weather is mild, and the painters won’t trample on the newly planted garden. If you paint on very hot days, it can cause the paint to dry too quickly and prevent the good paint film formation, thus your house will get a longer-lasting paint job.
If your home is older, don’t risk postponing repainting. It doesn’t take long for exposed wood to begin to rot. Painting the exterior of your home increases and protects the value of your home. And who doesn’t love driving up to their home and seeing it look fresh? One more item to take off your Spring/Summer to-do list.
To extend the life of your paint job, only use highest quality 100% acrylic latex paint, it’s durable, flexible and colorfast. Top quality paint will often last 10 years or more, compared to about four years for ordinary paint, saving you time, work, and money in the long run. For the longest-lasting paint job, always apply at least two coats of paint; either a coat of primer and a coat of house paint or two coats of the house paint.
Consider choosing a new color, perhaps something sophisticated or vibrant? Don’t forget the window frames, doors, deck and railings. You will love sitting outside with your family and friends, having BBQs and admiring your “new” home. Once your exterior painting job is done, you can concentrate on exciting things like outdoor entertaining, gardening, sports and other recreational activities. OR turn your attention to creating the kitchen or bath of your dreams!
